The Heart of the Highlands
The Angus Hotel
Blairgowrie and East Perthshire offers you landscapes of terrific variety; rolling fields of soft fruit, quiet glens, peaceful lochs, rushing rivers and the dramatic mountains of Glenshee. The successful cultivation of raspberries has made this area the Raspberry Capital of the World. ' Blair' as it is known locally, sits with its sister community Rattray on the banks of the River Ericht, a major tributary of the River Tay considered to have outstanding salmon fishing. By the riverside near the hotel you will find an old corn mill, now Cargill's Visitor Centre.
THE ANGUS HOTEL Situated in the centre of Blairgowrie, the Angus Hotel has always provided a warm welcome for guests. Over the years the hotel has been tastefully extended to accommodate its rapidly growing base of visitors, whilst retaining its renowned style and country warmth. All bedrooms at this AA / RAC 3* hotel are fully en suite with every amenity you would expect of a first class property. Equally impressive are the heated indoor swimming pool, spa bath, sauna & solarium. It is renowned locally for its superb food and entertainment.
Our usual comfort stops and visits will be made in each direction. Day 2 will be a relatively easy day as we travel the short journey to PERTH, paying a visit to CAITHNESS GLASS. Day 3 takes us on a circular tour with a short stop in ABERFELDY, followed by a pleasant ride along the banks of Loch Tay to KILLIN & THE FALLS OF DOCHART, returning via CRIEFF VISITOR CENTRE for a brief visit. Day 4 sees us at PITLOCHRY, followed by an arranged visit to BLAIR CASTLE (Admission included). We call at one of Scotland's small Highland Distilleries for a tour and ' tasting ' before returning to our hotel. We will have a morning excursion via GLENSHEE to BRAEMAR on day 5, with an afternoon at leisure to allow you to browse around the attractions of Blairgowrie itself.
