A Cornish Medley

The Esplanade Hotel, Newquay

Tour highlights: Homes & Gardens, Coastlines & Railway lines!

Cornwall is always a popular destination for us and for this five night holiday we have included some of Cornwall's best! There's an excursion to a stately home & garden, a steam train ride and a visit to Falmouth not forgetting of course the Cornish Cyder Farm - truly the cream of Cornwall!

A modern hotel offering a wide range of facilities, excellent cuisine, friendly service and old-fashioned courtesy. The location is superb, with a panoramic outlook across Fistral Beach where Atlantic rollers break against the shore. Simply relax in the comfort of the lounge and admire the view. All en-suite bedrooms have tea & coffee tray, telephone, colour satellite TV, and hairdryer. Facilities also include the Ocean View restaurant, cabaret Bar, Indoor swimming pool, outdoor pool & patio, gym, sauna, solarium & spa bath.

Itinerary
Day 1
Travel to resort in time for dinner, with usual comfort stops en route.
Day 2
Today has been left free for you to relax and explore what Newquay has to offer. You can explore some of the best and safest beaches in Cornwall or simply stroll along the quayside, where at high water local fisherman unload their baskets. The harbour itself is also a wonderful suntrap or you may wish to visit the Eden Project which is easily accessible by Public transport.

Day 3 Lanhydrock House & Gardens
After breakfast we have arranged a visit to Lanhydrock House & Gardens, one of the most fascinating and complete late 19th-century houses, it's full of period atmosphere and was rebuilt following a disastrous fire in 1881. The garden has a stunning collection of magnolias, rhododendrons and camellias, offering a fine array of colours right through into autumn. There is a fully licensed restaurant and stable tearoom at Lanhydrock both of which offer a good selection of dishes and is a good place to stop for lunch. From here we make the short journey to Bodmin General railway station for a return trip on the Bodmin and Wenford railway, which takes a journey through scenic countryside of the preserved Great Western Railway branch line.

Day 4 Falmouth
Head south to the resort of Falmouth, the world's third largest natural harbour. Included is a visit to the National Maritime Museum, a fascinating insight into the lives of the people and the community for whom the sea has been an essential lifeline and source of food. The rest of the day is free for you to enjoy beautiful Falmouth before returning to your hotel for dinner.

Day 5 Cornish Cyder Farm
A morning's excursion to the Cornish Cyder Farm has been arranged, where a guided tour will take you through the ancient process of Cider making, the Jam kitchen and Brandy Distillery. There's also a good restaurant, ideal for a fresh 'cream tea' before returning to Newquay for a spot of souvenir shopping!
