Llandudno & Swowdonia

The Hydro Hotel

A century ago Llandudno was just a sleepy little fishing village, but today it is the largest resort on the coast. With the mountains of Snowdonia in the background, set in a beautiful bay between the headlands of Great and Little Orme, Llandudno enjoys a magnificent setting. This elegant Victorian resort has plenty of traditional seaside attractions, as well as being a perfect centre for touring the Snowdonia National Park.
Hydro Hotel
Ideally placed on the sea front overlooking Llandudno Bay, close to the Aberconwy Centre and a short walk from Llandudno's wonderful shops, the Pier and Happy Valley gardens. Ballroom, where entertainment is provided most evenings. Superb "Looking Glass" bar with views over the bay, sun lounges and a games room with snooker. Lift serving most floors. All 120 bedrooms have tea/coffee making facilities, private bath or shower and WC and colour TV with radio channels. Many have views over the bay or else over the town to the Snowdonian Mountains in the distance.
Itinerary
We will of course make our usual comfort stops en-route, with an interesting break around lunch time, before continuing our journey to the very friendly Hydro Hotel in Llandudno.
Our first day in the resort will be at leisure for you to explore the many delights of Llandudno. The North Shore has the Pier, donkey rides, Punch & Judy: the West Shore is quieter. Then there is the Great Orme Tram (don't miss it) taking you up to the headland for some amazing views.
On day 3 our Snowdonia excursion follows valleys and climbs the passes in this region of wild mountains. Time to explore Betwys-y-Coed and the Swallow Falls, on through the slate-mining town of Blaenau Ffestiniog to the Cardigan Bay coast at Porthmadoc. Via Beddgelert to the Llanberis Pass, passing beneath Snowdon, at just over 3,500ft the highest mountain in Wales. See the holiday village of Llanberis and its little lake, Llyn Padarn, on the way back.
On day 4 the first visit of the day will be to Caernarfon, where Prince Charles was invested as Prince of Wales in the huge castle guarding the Menai Strait. We go on to the Menai Bridge to cross to the Isle of Anglesey where we see Beaumaris go shopping at a woollen mill and learn to pronounce (and spell) Llanfair P G.
On the five day tour we unfortunately have to bid our farewells and commence our journey home. An extended visit to Chester ( two & a half hours ) will be made before we continue our journey home.
An additional full day and a half day excursion will be provided on the eight day tours, with an extra day at leisure in Llandudno
