INCLUDED EXCURSIONS
1. OSBORNE HOUSE, WHIPPINGHAM CHURCH, AND NEWPORT
A 'Touch of Royalty' today begins with a visit to St. Mildred's Church at Whippingham. This ornate church was designed by Prince Albert, and was where the royal family worshipped when in residence on the island. We then visit Osborne House, the seaside retreat of Queen Victoria that was also designed by the Prince Consort. Here you can explore this magnificent villa and its beautiful grounds, preserved almost as it was when the Queen died here in 1901. Our final visit for today allows you the opportunity to have a relatively quick browse in Newport, the principal town on the island.
2. VENTNOR BOTANICAL GARDEN, GODSHILL, AND ARRETON BARNS Our first visit today is to the lovely botanical garden in Ventnor. The garden was largely destroyed by the "Great Storm" in October 1987 and had to be redeveloped and replanted. We then continue to the picture post card village of Godshill, after which we visit Arreton Barns Craft Village to see modern day artisans working at traditional crafts.
3. ALUM BAY AND COWES
We journey across the island to Alum Bay, famous for its coloured sands, and then continue to Cowes, best known as the world's premier yachting centre. It is the Island's main port with a natural harbour at the mouth of the Medina River, and has some delightful shops, pubs, cafes and restaurants in its narrow pedestrianised High Street.
4. RYDE AND WALTZING WATERS (8 DAYS TOUR ONLY)
Today we travel along the coast road to the elegant Victorian seaside resort of Ryde, known as the Gateway to the Island. We also attend a show of Waltzing Waters, the world's most elaborate water, light and music production.
