Included excursions 1. Full Day via North York Moors to Whitby
We journey inland along the southern edge of the North York Moors to Pickering with its magnificent 12th century castle. We continue over the moors to Whitby, incomparably situated on the banks of the River Esk, and with a skyline dominated by the remains of the ancient abbey. Whitby was recently voted the UK's favourite seaside resort. We return to our hotel via the coast road.
2. Helmsley and the World of James Herriot
Today we travel via the beautiful village of Thornton-le-Dale to Helmsley, a very pretty market town set around a square with many interesting shops, and smaller streets off the main square to explore. We then continue to Skeldale House in Thirsk, the location of the "World of James Herriot", upon whose novels the BBC Television's popular comedy drama "All Creatures Great and Small" was based.
