1. SEVERN VALLEY RAILWAY & SHREWSBURY
Today we take a journey back in time with a trip on the Severn Valley Railway from Kidderminster to Bridgnorth. Sit back and enjoy the lovely scenery as the train follows the meandering course of the River Severn through unspoilt countryside. On arrival in Bridgnorth we rejoin our coach and travel to historic Shrewsbury, one of England's finest medieval towns. The town centre is packed with timber-framed black and white buildings, steep narrow streets and alleyways. The River Severn forms a loop around the town centre offering gentle riverside walks, or simply relax in the beautiful Quarry Park, designed by the lat Percy Thrower, and location for the annual Shrewsbury Flower Show. If you're feeling more energetic, Shrewsbury does have a wonderful shopping centre with all the usual high street names and an amazing range of unique independent retailers.
2. MUCH WENLOCK, IRONBRIDGE & BLISTS HILL VICTORIAN TOWN
A lovely day out as we travel along Wenlock Edge for a short visit to Much Wenlock, a stunningly beautiful medieval town. No 'big name' shops here, but you will find a great selection of traditional shops, all offering a good old-fashioned personal service. We then head to Ironbridge, birthplace of the Industrial Revolution, and site of the world's first iron bridge, built across the River Severn. We explore the valley and visit the fascinating Blists Hill Victorian Town museum. We return to our hotel via Bridgnorth and more delightful villages.
