The modern Marks Tey Hotel & Leisure Club located to the south of Colchester is the premier hotel in North Essex. Services and facilities of a high standard are combined with a respect for traditional values of comfort & care to provide guests with a memorable visit. The beautiful scenes of Constable Country, including Flatford Mill & Dedham are a short distance and numerous other attractions include Colchester Castle, Art Museums, Stately Homes, Gardens and a number of English Vineyards open to the public. The Lifestyle Health & Leisure Club is complimentary to residents during their stay and facilities include a 15-metre indoor swimming pool, jacuzzi, steam & sauna rooms, fully air-conditioned gymnasium & 2 outdoor tennis courts. No lift but large number of ground floor rooms, with the remaining rooms being on the first floor.
Itinerary
DAY 1: Morning departure to travel to Essex and our hotel, sited just a few miles from Colchester.
DAY 2: Colchester is the oldest recorded town in Britain with extensive historical links to the Roman era, and a fabulous Norman Castle, as well as the award winning Colchester Zoo .We have most of the day to explore, before taking a short journey to Mersea Island famous for its oysters.
DAY 3: Today we are visiting Bridge Cottage, just upstream from Flatford Mill, which houses an exhibition of John Constable, several of whose paintings famously depict this property.Our tour will also include views of FlatfordMill, owned by John's father and where he learnt his millers trade, whilst finding time for his consuming passion.We also visit Dedham another village that features in his paintings.
DAY 4: A day at the seaside - our route takes us to Frinton-on-Sea, Holland-on-Sea and then to Clacton-on-Sea where we have plenty of time for lunch and relaxing on the promenade. Rejoin our coach at 16.30 for the transfer back to our hotel.
DAY 5: Time to depart for the homeward journey.
