The Wonders of Wales

Hilton Newport Hotel

New this year is our 4-night holiday where we've included visits to the historic and exciting City of Cardiff, its Millennium Stadium and vibrant new Marina and Waterfront area. The National Botanical Garden of Wales is on our list of "must see" attractions; the first national botanic garden to be created in the new millennium it has already become one of the most fascinating gardens in the UK and the most visited garden in Wales. Combine all of this with the spectacular scenery as you travel through the beautiful Wye Valley and you have an unforgettable holiday.

Hilton Newport Hotel
Located close to junction 24 of the M4 motorway, the hotel makes an ideal base for touring this part of the country and offers good facilities and comfortable surroundings in which to relax after a busy day of sightseeing. The hotel has a Living Well health club including an indoor swimming pool.

Day 1 We travel to our hotel, making usual comfort stops en route.

Day 2 National Botanical Garden & Mumbles
A full day of excursions that starts with a visit to the National Botanical Garden in Llanarthne, set in 560 acres of grounds, part of which is managed as a low intensity organic farm. We've included a guide as there's an enormous amount to see and so we need to allow about 3 hours. You can either have lunch at one of the restaurant outlets at the gardens or perhaps wait until you get to Mumbles - the delightful Victorian resort on the Gower Peninsular which forms the next part of the day. Mumbles has a fantastic array of attractions, including a pier, traditional boutiques, craft shops and ice-cream parlours.

Day 3 Tintern Abbey & the Wye Valley
A day of sightseeing today as you make your way from the hotel up through the beautiful Wye Valley and stop at the pretty village of Tintern. Perhaps include a visit to the Abbey, one of the greatest monastic ruins in Wales. From here you continue on to Monmouth, set in the heart of the Wye Valley and officially designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Monmouth's Roman and Medieval beginnings, Georgian mansions and Victorian courtyards provide the perfect backdrop, not forgetting the impressively large village green. Return to the hotel via the ancient and welcoming town of Abergavenny.

Day 4 Cardiff - the Millennium Stadium / Guided Tour
Have you ever wondered what happens in the moments before the Welsh Team charge down the Millennium Stadium's Players' tunnel and onto the pitch whilst tens of thousands of rugby fans raise the roof with 'Bread of Heaven'? - perhaps you would like a closer look at where Her Majesty the Queen and other VIPs enjoyed the Rugby World Cup Final? Well today is your chance to find out; we've arranged a guided tour of the Millennium stadium during your day in Cardiff. As an alternative, we have arranged for a local Blue Badge Guide to join the coach at the stadium for those of you who may not wish to visit the stadium to take you on a guided tour of Cardiff - from the Castle and Civic Centre to Cardiff Bay, Marina and Waterfront, Barry and Penarth.
